Through research, protection
The AXA Research Fund was created in 2008 to encourage scientific research that would contribute to understanding and preventing environmental, life, and socio-economic risks. The Fund supports world class research in these areas by providing institutions with the means of attracting and retaining the leading scientists of today and of the next generation. The Fund seeks to support innovative and cutting-edge transdisciplinary projects, particularly as such projects may encounter difficulties in gaining support elsewhere.

New issue of Echo magazine (June 2010)
This new edition of Echo magazine pays tribute to two newly created academic chairs. First, you will discover Itzhak Gilboa's work in the field of decision science, which questions the traditional mathematical approach to rational decision-making in situations of uncertainty.
Our regular feature, "Helping the world advance" is devoted to Abdul Barakat and discusses how bioengineering can provide pioneering treatments for cardiovascular diseases.
These two projects, as well as all of those you will discover in these pages and upcoming editions, are among the 157 research efforts the AXA Research Fund have decided to support in 15 countries thus far. All of them illustrate our commitment of AXA to research as well the determination to create an environment that fosters the emergence of path-breaking scientific discoveries.
Talent Day #3 on Decision Science
On June 28th and 29th, twelve AXA grantees, from seven different nationalities, and whose research concerns Decision Making, Risk and Uncertainity, will gather for the third edition of the Talent Days.
The goal of this meeting was to give our young researchers the opportunity to discuss and compare their point of view on a common field of research that is highly important for our society.
