Established in January 2008 and endowed with 100 million euros over five years, the AXA Research Fund is an ambitious international scientific sponsorship initiative. Its core mission is to promote first-class research in areas associated with risks. It therefore provides researchers with the means, the time and the freedom to complete their work successfully, so that they feel encouraged to explore new avenues. Indeed, the diversity of funding schemes offered provides great flexibility.
Promoting innovative research
We fund projects that are capable of bringing true innovation into research in the main domains that we have retained.
We offer research institutes innovative and efficient funding, with a view to academic excellence.
Encouraging individuals
We encourage individuals by making their research easier and by rewarding their efforts and their results. In awarding Post-doctoral and Doctoral fellowships, we give them greater standing.
Fostering exchange and synergy
Our aim is to contribute to setting up and reinforcing European research networks of excellence, by promoting exchange and synergy.
Helping research centers achieve greater interdisciplinarity, and ensuring that top-level researchers remain internationally mobile are some of the objectives of the AXA Research Fund.
Reciprocating knowledge
We wish to become a career-booster for young researchers by facilitating interactions within the scientific communities supported by the Fund.
On the other hands, we intend to establish ties and synergies between researchers and the business world so as to foster a better understanding of major risks and emergent risks by mantaining a strict sense of independence of their research work.
