Isabel Díaz is a Ph.D. in Chemistry with research experience at universities in the UK, Sweden, and Japan. She was a Fulbright Fellow and has been awarded the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry Prize to Young Researchers. She has also been involved in gender equality efforts and has served as an advisor to the Women in Science Unity of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

Currently, Isabel Díaz is the Deputy Vice-President of International Cooperation of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Chemistry Department of Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, where she was recruited as a Full Professor for six years. Her research focuses on using heterogeneous catalysis, specifically zeolites, to protect the environment.
