Christian Thimann

Member of the Executive Committee, AXA Group

Christian Thimann is Member of the Executive Committee and coordinates AXA Group’s global strategy. He also oversees the Group’s corporate responsibility ambition and the work on policy issues relevant for insurers.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of Alliance Bernstein Investment Managers, New York, and of AXA Investment Managers, Paris.

Until 2013, he worked at the European Central Bank as Director General and Adviser to ECB President Mario Draghi; from 2008 to 2011, he was Adviser to ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet. Before joining the ECB in 1998, he worked at the International Monetary Fund in the Asian and the European departments.

Christian Thimann is a graduate from the London School of Economics, holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Munich and is affiliated professor at the Paris School of Economics.
